Tooth movement with braces is the ideal way to improve the appearance of you teeth. We assess all patients during dental examinations. If appropriate children can be referred for NHS orthodontic treatment. Adult orthodontic treatment is not currently available within the NHS but please see the Invisalign section for adult orthodontics.
Here are a few tips for children:
1. don't suck your thumb
2. DON'T SUCK YOUR THUMB
3. DON'T SUCK YOUR THUMB!!!!
Seriously though, avoid dummies and thumbsucking. 'Stop n' Grow' is as good a remedy as you can get, Strewl Peter is not so good!
In children, orthodontics is usually started when all the baby teeth have dropped out. This is usually between 10 and 13 years. If we think a child is likely to need more extensive orthodontic intervention, we might refer them at an earlier stage.
The NHS funding has changed and it may not be possible to have orthodontic treatment provided on the NHS.
