large product photo   FLUORIDE

Fluoride is proven to significantly reduce tooth decay.

Multiple studies show it is safe. The only proven side effect is called mottling, a discolouration of the tooth surface. Children should use child toothpaste until they are old enough to spit out. Other reported side-effects are not currently proven.

The water in London does not have Fluoride added to it and is about 0.1part per million. In order for Fluoride to be effective in preventing tooth decay, when added to the water, it has to be 1 part per million.

Children and adults with high levels of tooth decay benefit from supplementary Fluoride. This can be applied by a mouthwash (Fluorigard) a varnish (Duraphat) or in mouth trays (Gel Kam.) Some homeopathic toothpastes do not contain fluoride.
